KYUSA’S LIFELONG LEARNING PLATFORM

Kyusa is a nonprofit in Kampala, Uganda that empowers out of school youth in urban slums to turn their passions into sustainable careers. The organization addresses the lack of the economic opportunity for school dropouts through an innovative, holistic program.

Through the use of free online courses, mentoring, skills development and entrepreneurship training, Kyusa turns participants’ mindset of hopelessness into determination and confidence. Kyusa’s pilot class is graduated on September 28th. As a result of the program, 80% of the participants are either employed or have started their own venture.

The self paced learning approach encourages the use of one’s imagination, creative, critical and ethical thinking skills which act as a catalyst for the transformation of one’s potentialities into productive skills. This is backed up by soft skills development training and a career based mentoring support system.
